Ingredients
For the Beef Marinade

- 1 kg beef, cut into small bite-sized pieces
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
For Cooking the Beef
- 1 cup cooking oil, or enough for frying
For the Salad
- 1 large head lettuce, washed and roughly chopped
- 2–3 cucumbers, thinly sliced
- Lemon wedges, for serving
Instructions
Marinate the Beef
- Cut the beef into small, bite-sized pieces. Pat dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
- Place the beef in a large bowl.
- Add the chili powder, turmeric powder, salt, and black pepper.
- Mix thoroughly until every piece of beef is evenly coated.
- Cover and marinate for at least 30 minutes. For deeper flavor, refrigerate for several hours or overnight.
Cook the Beef
- Heat the oil in a large heavy-bottomed pan over medium-high heat.
- Add the marinated beef in batches. Avoid overcrowding the pan so the beef browns properly.
- Cook until the beef is well browned and cooked through.
- Continue cooking until most of the moisture has evaporated and the outside becomes nicely browned and slightly crispy.
- Remove the beef from the pan and allow excess oil to drain.
For a crispier finish: You can deep-fry the marinated beef in hot oil until dark golden brown and crispy, then drain well on a paper towel.
Assemble the Salad
- Arrange the chopped lettuce on a large serving platter.
- Neatly arrange the sliced cucumber around the edges of the platter.
- Place the cooked beef pieces in the center over the lettuce.
- Serve immediately with fresh lemon wedges.

Notes & Tips
- Choose a tender cut of beef: Sirloin, striploin, or another tender cut works well for a salad. Cut the beef into small, evenly sized pieces for consistent cooking.
- Marinate well: Allow the beef to marinate for at least 30 minutes. For stronger flavor, marinate it in the refrigerator for several hours or overnight.
- Dry the beef before cooking: Excess moisture can prevent the beef from browning properly.
- Avoid overcrowding the pan: Cook the beef in batches if necessary. This helps it brown nicely instead of steaming.
- For crispy beef: Cook over medium-high to high heat until the outside is well browned and slightly crisp.
- Adjust the spice level: Increase or reduce the chili powder according to your preferred level of heat.
- Keep the vegetables fresh: Use crisp lettuce and fresh cucumber, and assemble the salad just before serving.
- Add lemon at the end: A squeeze of fresh lemon juice brightens the dish and balances the spicy, savory beef.
- Serve immediately: The best texture comes from serving the warm beef with the cool, crunchy salad.
