These tasty burgers have the flavour of wontons in a burger!
Make mini versions of these to enjoy for little hands as well. Kids will like this recipe because kids can make the patties into fun shapes.

- Serve your favourite condiments alongside with these burgers.
- Make these burgers and freeze them on a parchment paper lined baking sheet until solid. Then transfer to re-sealable freezer bag or container. Freeze for up to 2 months. If cooking from frozen, add about 8 minutes to cooking time in the oven.
Ingredients
- 1 Egg
- 1 Tbsp (15 mL) Sodium reduced soy sauce
- 1 tsp (5 mL) Sesame oil
- ¼ cup (60 mL) Whole wheat dry breadcrumbs
- 454g (1 lb) Lean ground chicken or pork
- 4 Whole wheat buns
- 4 Leaves romaine lettuce
- 1 Tomato, sliced
Directions
- In a large bowl, stir together egg, soy sauce, sesame oil and breadcrumbs.
- Add chicken (or pork) and using hands, mix together until well combined. Divide mixture into 4 and shape into about ½ inch (2 cm) patties.
- Spray large ovenproof nonstick skillet with cooking spray and heat over medium high heat. Brown burgers for about 2 minutes, turn over and brown other side for about 2 minutes or until golden.
- Place skillet in 400 ºF (200 ºC) oven for about 10 minutes or until burgers are no longer pink inside.
- Place burger on bottom half of buns and top with lettuce and tomato slices. Top with remaining bun halves to serve.
